Mercedes SL63 AMG Spyshot at the #Nurburgring
Posted by: | CommentsLast week we spotted the SL63 AMG undergoing some Nurburg ring time in Germany, the car was lapping with the standard SL so was easily missed.
Although still covered in camouflage, these pictures prove that Mercedes-Benz have officially begun final testing of the next-generation SL63 AMG, which will be on the market in 2012 or 2013.
Underhood we expect to see Mercedes new 5.5L twin-turbo V8, generating around 570 horsepower. Distributing the power to the rear wheels will be the Speedshift MCT seven-speed transmission from AMG.
Look closely and you’ll see large air ducting and a more sugestive fascia leering out from behind the camouflage. Performance brakes with cross-drilled floating rotors are clearly visible, although Mercedes has hidden the SL AMG’s exhaust outlets to look like those found on the normal SL.
Expect a teaser at the Frankfurt Motorshow in 2010 before the likely full release in 2011.

#Mercedes #Mclaren SLR Stirling Moss Lapping the Nurburgring
Posted by: | CommentsToday at the Nurburgring Nordshleife Public day the awe inspiring SLR Stirling Moss edition turned up to do a lap or two of the infamous nordschleife, A very noble cause considering the many danger’s on the Northloop and the whopping 750k euro price tag.
The car was inspired by the 1955 300 SLR that Moss guided to the Mille Miglia record of ten hours & seven minutes and 48 seconds.
The power unit consists of a supercharged 5.4-litre V8 from the SLR 722 edition, meaning there’s a whopping 641bhp and 605lb ft, taking the speedster to 62mph in sub 3.5sec and onto a Vmax of 217mph.
The performance is a level above that of the rest of the Mercedes Mclaren range thanks to some handy weightloss regime including a carbonfibre body sheding approximately 200kg from the Standard SLR.
Owners will be able to personally compare the two, as the 75 Stirling Moss editions are only available to current SLR owners.
It rounds off production of the SLR – the best selling supercar ever, at around 1700 units.
It also the end of the McMerc supercar partnership – the Germans going their own way with the SLS and McLaren making its first independent car since the legendary F1 in the form of the MP4-12c.

Lotus Evora S Spotted at the Nurburgring…
Posted by: | CommentsThe Lotus Evora S, spotted here by us at Pistonspy at the Nurburgring, will be the most powerfull version of the Evora product range.
A supercharger will be fitted to the base car’s Toyota-sourced 3.5-litre V6 engine to boost power to more than 350bhp and throw out more than 300lb ft of torque you can see additional ducting for the supercharger hidden under vent panels.
This will allow the Evora to achieve a 0-62mph time of comfortably less than 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed around 175mph.
The Evora’s engine bay has been designed to home its supercharger between the cylinder banks, so as not to obstruct rear-view mirror visibility.
External changes over the standard Evora appear minimal, apart from the addition of a rear diffuser but this is a test mule dont forget.
Lotus will take the wraps off a range-topping supercharged S variant of the Evora at the Paris motor show.
