2013 Audi RS6 Spied Winter Testing

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The current C6 RS6 was discontinued in 2010 and there was no hints of a replacement in development.

It is great to see that Audi have not forgot its Bi-Turbo Quattro’s in this latest prototype to sneak its way from Neckarsulm home of the RS models up to the winter wonderland in northern Sweden.

This car is in mule form on first looks, like a current A6 based Avant sporting A8 wheels.

But on closure inspection we notice the aggressive front bumper leading its way back through to the Ceramic Disks front and back, this is no other than an upcoming RS6 Production prototype.

We are expecting the car to be powered by a V8 Bi-Turbo 4.0 liter engine which is currently in use on the New Bentley Continental GT and the current S8.

But this car will be going head to head with the likes of the BMW M5 & the new AMG C63 so expect BHP to be around 580hp mated to a revised Bosch ESP and EBD safety system and the usual Quattro AWD with DRC.

Enjoy the remarkably uncamouflaged mule and keep an eye out for the production prototypes around april this year.

Audi RS4 Avant – To be Shown Geneva

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

After numerous reports that there will be no uplift to the B7 RS4 we have got information hinting that the RS4 will be unveiled at the 83rd Geneva Motorshow.

The mysterious email stated that it could be a production concept or even in its final production form.

We spied the car first at the nurburgring wearing heavy camouflage, but from the looks this was a production ready prototype.

The email didnt state any more information apart from clearing up the rumours circling the internet that it has been cancelled.

We dont expect a saloon variant as Audi wants the RS5 to fill this segment.

Let’s see what happens at the Geneva Show in March.

2013 Audi A4 and S4 revealed with Video

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The new Audi A4 and the new Audi S4

A bestseller has become even more attractive: Audi has updated the A4 series. New solutions for efficiency, driving dynamics and infotainment, along with an even more attractive design, attest the “Vorsprung durch Technik” achieved by the A4 Sedan, the A4 Avant, the A4 allroad quattro and the S4.

The new look further accentuates the horizontal lines at the front end. The engine hood is more arched, the upper corners of the single frame grille are tapered, and the cross ribs and the Audi rings are highlighted three-dimensionally. The grille is painted gray, with high-gloss black on the six-cylinder models or in combination with the S line exterior package. The redesigned bumpers are striking with their angular air inlets, their revised grilles and the flat front fog lights. The A4 allroad quattro is distinguished by its grille’s horizontal chrome applications and by the round fog lights.

The headlights have also changed, with a slight wave at the bottom edges, and a re-arranged interior. Xenon plus headlights are available from Audi on request. The LED daytime running lights form a narrow, optically homogeneous band that remains open in the vicinity of the xenon lens. The adaptive light together with dynamic and static cornering lights are available on request.

The tail lights reflect the shape of the headlights, and in combination with xenon plus have homogeneous strips of LEDs. The bumper with its diffuser insert has been redesigned, with the exhaust system always terminating in two tailpipes.

The interior of the A4 models has also been refined. Audi offers a wide selection of new steering wheels with chrome and high-gloss inlays, with the leather sport steering wheel also featuring a flattened lower rim. The steering arm and the ignition key have been modified. High-gloss applications and the slender chrome trim at the controls add elegance to the interior.

The Audi S4, available in the Sedan and Avant versions, employs the most powerful engine in the line – the 3.0 TFSI with 245 kW (333 hp) and 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) torque. The Sedan’s average fuel consumption is a mere 8.0 liters per 100 km (29.40 US mpg) – with an impressive performance: The S4 accelerates in 5.0 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) and achieves an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph).

The modified Audi S4 is identifiable from the changes to the headlights, the bumpers, the air inlets and colors. The interior also contains subtle changes in appearance. The S sport suspension and 18-inch wheels featured on the S4 deliver outstanding road grip.

Audi TT Spotted Sporting Bentley Alloys

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Here is a Audi TT coupe sporting some extreme alloys from the Bentley Continental, This 2.0l TFSI powered TT was also sat only 40mm from the floor.

Due to the lack of damage from its dropped height we suspect that an HLS System is installed, where hydraulics lift and lower the car.

I think personally the extra money to fit this kit would have been spent by buying the TTS but who am I????

Audi RS1 Production Prototype Spyshots

Audi RS1 Spyshots (Click Picture to see the Gallery)

These are the very first nearly uncamouflaged spyshots of the RS families baby RS1.

But what the prototype is sporting under the hood is the big question.

After the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro which had the 2.5 liter along with 496bhp and a whopping 660 NM of torque, We expect this varient to house the 2.0l TFSI with expected power output of around 280bhp.

The reason why we dont think the car is equipped with the 2.5 liter is the size of the brakes and the supporting disk rotors.

The Audi RS1 will launch in 2012.

Audi RS4 Avant B8 Spyshots at the Nurburgring

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (1)

As a previous B5 RS4 owner I was left somewhat disappointed with the removal of the trademark forced induction from the 420ps B7 RS4, Now the 2013 Audi RS4 has shown its in production prototype on Germany’s Nürburgring.

The B8 Audi RS4 is incorporating a much more aggressive front fascia complete with lower and wider air intakes similar to the RS5 Coupe.

Rumors have suggested that an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 could be put to use here and with the extensive competition from AMG and BMW M-Power it is looking likely.

MTM R8 V10 BiTurbo
The details of the highly polished MTM R8 V10 Biturbo, for which MTM also promises a registration for Germany: Performance upgrade to 777 hp, 888 Nm torque and a top speed beyond the 350 km/h. MTM also expects best acceleration values:

0 – 100 in 3,0 sec
0 – 200 in 9,37 sec

Audi R18 Le Mans Prototype Revealed

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Audi has unveiled its latest sportscar which Britain’s Allan McNish hopes will enable him to score his third and the German manufacturer’s 10th Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race victory next June.

Audi aims to continue its string of victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours with a completely new R18 prototype displayed in Ingolstadt on the 10th December 2010 .

Le Mans 24h have reduced the engine size allowed for the endurance race and Audi have opted for a 3.7-liter V6 TDI unit, mated to a new 6 speed gearbox which has been developed along with the smaller capacity engine.

The carbon fiber monocoque of the R18 does not consist of two halves but features a single-component design. This saves weight and increases stiffness.

The chassis and aerodynamics package contains a lot of know-how from the R8, the R10 TDI and the R15 TDI whereas the fitting of identically sized front and rear wheels is new to an Audi Le Mans sports car. This configuration allows a more balanced weight distribution.

The R18′s headlights, which are the first to completely consist of LEDs with optimized amount of light, are a technical highlight. The new generation of headlights was developed in close cooperation between Audi Sport and the Technical Development (TE) division of AUDI AG and by using at Le Mans, will be prepared for future use in production vehicles. Audi’s light designers had the chance to make their mark on the development as well: The LEDs of the daytime light form the shape of a “1″ which is intended to inspire associations with Audi’s historic brand logo.

The development of the new Audi R18 started in mid 2009. The V6 TDI engine has been running on the dynamometers since the summer of 2010. The R18, with Allan McNish at the wheel, completed its first test on a racetrack at the end of November.

The racing debut of the Audi R18 is planned for the Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) 6 Hours on May 8. Prior to the event, the new prototype will be able to do its first laps on the race track at Le Mans during the official test day on April 24 and gather important data for the race on June 11 and 12.
