The ABT R8 GTR – Testing at the Nurburgring
Posted by: | CommentsThe well-trained sports car has enormous performance potential: instead of the series-standard 525HP (386 kW), the 5.2 FSI in the ABT R8 GT R provides a massive 620HP (456 kW) and as a result the light car travels extremely quickly: the top speed is 325 km/h, it does 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and the GT R reaches the 200km/h mark in a mere 9.9 seconds. In order to ensure that the power can be optimally applied on the road and on the race track, height-adjustable ABT Sports suspension and adjustable dampers are standard on the ABT R8 GT R. The ceramic brake system with modified brake pads has been adjusted to meet the enormous performance potential of the super sports car. The extremely light ABT CR alloys round off the package. On the front axle they are mounted in 9×19 inch and on the rear axle in 11×19 inch. The Michelin sports cup tyres are the perfect choice for the car. The ABT R8 GT R is a unique vehicle which provides maximum driving enjoyment. It has been designed for driving at the limit: from the weight-optimised exhaust unit to the ABT Titanium special coating – ABT’s love of motorsport can be seen in every detail.
This was in direct competition with the MTM GT3-2 which is a shy 560hp, But after speaking to Roland Mayer at MTM he teased us about the upcoming Twin-Turbo v10 is in development. After his experience in the Bi-Turbo audi market this should be an interesting update to the R8 Customizer market, and suspect a 680hp model.
2011 Audi S7 Spyshot at the Nordschleife
Posted by: | Comments
Today we spotted the 2011 Audi S7, This will feature a quad-tailpipe exhaust system, and a speed adjusted rear spoiler.
Other extras will include modified bumpers to increase airflow, and the usual Quattro GMBH suspension unit. The photos show the large brakes hinting at the power output.
The power will likely be provided by the RS5′s 4.2-liter V8 detuned with 380-410 hp and around 317 lb-ft of torque. If that isn’t powerful enough, Audi will supply the RS7 with a 580 hp 5.2-liter V10 or a 572 hp (427 kW / 580 PS) 5.0-liter TFSI V10.

MTM Audi RS6 Clubsport with more than 730 hp
Posted by: | CommentsDipl.-Ing Roland Mayer has loved cars since he was a young boy, Now he has passed puberty hes turned his tuning skills in to a frightening mix of fire and brimstone to the executive market, Not content with the RS6 ample 580hp offering he has removed the speed limiter and modified the Suspension Gearing and Brakes.
God help us when he decides to frankenbuild the manifolds and add to the allready substantial turbochargers.
This could be the first 1000PS offering from MTM.
• Target for 2010: top speed of 350 km/h
• 3.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, 11.0 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h
• A few optical touch-ups, but sportiness in the drivers’ position
Similarities with other vehicles, for example with the legendary Audi V8 DTM edition of the years 90 and 91 can not be excluded – that seems to be the message of the MTM RS6 Clubsport, which the Audi specialist and refiner MTM from Wettstetten/Ingolstadt is bringing out now. With a Power/Weight ratio of 2.65 Kg/PS, the sport interpretation of the RS6 stands far ahead of the former winner series’ car which brought with its four-wheel drive tears in the eyes of the adversary.
Company director Roland Mayer also seems to succeed in this, holding the record for station wagons (344,2 km/h) with the MTM RS6 R and presenting the RS6 R to the on board competition supercars mostly from back view in Nardo at the Highspeed event.
The aim is now, 350 km/h, where the MTM RS6 Clubsport has more power and less weight than the others. The result: more than 730 HP, around 860 Nm of torque and weight just under two tons. The 5. 0 TFSI V10 Biturbo with 6-speed triptonic with DSP, after its power increase in Wettstetten/Ingolstadt, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and 200 km/h will be reached just after 11 seconds.
The ingredients for the “MTM RS6 Clubsport” project are clear: less weight and much more power than the series‘ car. Besides the modification of the ECU, the engineers from MTM have demonstrated technical finesse to achieve more than 730 hp and 860 Nm of torque available at 2.750 U/min. In addition to that, a MTM stainless steel exhaust system – catalyst and rear silencer (4-pipes, each one 80 mm with throttle valves in 2 pipes and control system), as well as other details and modified high-rev gearing have been built-in. About suspensions, the RS6 Clubsport gets a MTM height adjustable suspension kit that allows a 10 to 45 mm lowering. Concerning the wheel set, the BIMOTO rims in 20” or 21” are suggested with, for example, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tyres in the size 305/30 ZR 21. The standard Carbon-Ceramic brakes, which Roland Mayer approves, are left on the car but stronger air brake system pipes can also be ordered on demand. Whoever wants to convert his RS6 into Clubsport is highly recommended for the MTM high power brake system with 405 x 36 mm disks and Brembo’s monobloc callipers with 6 pistons. Last but not least, MTM offers a changed front axle geometry, which, in addition to the above mentioned suspension kit, assures a much better behavior in curves.
Back to the legendary DTM V8 race car which stood out, 20 years ago, more for its driving sensations than its optic tuning. We find here also other similarities. Modification of the bodywork with a carbon diffuser and a discreet carbon front spoiler lip, which corresponds to the credo of MTM’s manager, Roland Mayer: we have to win, not with eye-catching spoilers, but with best times, best speed. When the driver’s door is open, we can see that sportiness inside as well as on the driver and co-driver seats, has replaced the comfort of the series’ car. Especially demonstrative: the ro ll-cage and no rear seats. On top of that, RECARO bucket seats and a 6-point safety harness, give the best driving position and best answer to our purpose: to concentrate on the driving. This is what the MTM RS6 Clubsport is all about.
Well this year it will be the same at car meetings on high speed tracks: Do not underestimate the Audi Limousine, which drives like a rocket. It was 344,2 km/h in 2009, the target for this year is 350 km/h.
Audi R8 GT Revealed and More Nurburgring Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the Clearest pictures to date of the upcoming Audi R8 GT you can read the previous stories on this test car.. HERE.
We first spied this on the Audi R8 GT testing on the Nurburgring, But later the following week Audi revealed the details of their Audi R8 GT.
A limited-production masterpiece on four wheels. Based on the R8 V10 Coupe, the GT is lighter and more powerful than its normal sibling. It costs €194,000 in Germany and only 333 examples will be made.
Changes include a windscreen constructed of thinner glass, a lighter fixed rear wing, a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) rear hatch, rear bumper and side blades. Even the aluminium caps of the carbon fiber ceramic brake discs saved four kilograms off the total vehicle mass. In the end 100kg (220 lbs) was shed, placing the R8 GT at 1,525kg (3,362.05 lb).
The engine is the standard 5.2-litre V10 and quattro AWD. In normal driving conditions 85% of torque is sent to the rear wheels. After tweaking its ECU engineers were able to up power from the standard 386 kW (518 bhp/ 525 PS) up to 412 kW (553 bhp / 560 PS). Maximum torque is now 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) at 6,500rpm. Audi’s 6-speed R Tronic sequential manual transmission is fitted. The 0 – 100 km/h sprint, when engaged through the car’s Launch Control system, takes just 3.6 seconds and the top speed is 320 km/h (199 mph).
Then there is always the supercharged rear wheel offering from MTM’s R8 R if you want something with more Power
Audi RS3 Test Mule Spotted at the Nurburgring wearing VW branding.
Posted by: | CommentsToday our spies caught the 2011 Audi S3 prototype in a sportsback body.
The car adopts some wider vents to feed the 2.5l 5 cylinder turbocharged engine as used in the Audi TTRS we expect a detuned variant of the TTRS expecting aroung the 310ps and 420 NM.
Also noted was its inherent identity crisis with the front VW golf alloys.
The above power output will make up for the Quattro system power loss and compete with the Focus RS and the Renault Megane 250.
Expect the Audi RS3 at the Frankfurt IAA in 2010 and a launch date round Feb-Mar 2011.
2011-2012 Audi A7 Spied at the Nurburgring
Posted by: | CommentsThe 2011-2012 Audi A7 has been spotted on the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife for the first time.
Basically this is a production version of the A7 Sportback concept unvailed at the Detroit Motor Show.
This mule is heavily camouflaged but has the aerodynamic speed adjusted spoiler on show.
Engine options will likely include a 4.2-liter modified V8 as used in the R8 and B7 RS4 and the usual TDI range of powerunits.
There could also be an RS variant but nothing is confirmed as of yet expect more details at the Frankfurt Motorshow.
