2012 Aston Martin Rapide S Spied – Nurburgring?

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The Aston Martin Rapide has been spotted undergoing test at the Nurburgring in Germany.

The changes arent very obvious as this prototype is heavily camouflaged but we expect the styling cues to be left thankfully intact.

Changes from the current Rapide on this car include a new lower front bumper along with an addition of a third vent.

There are no plans to change the Rapide’s 6.0 liter V12 engine or 470 horse power output, though a sportier model could be on the cards due to the competition from Bmw Porsche and Mercedes AMG.

2011 Aston Martin’s DBS Spyshots Nuerburgring

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

After a day of Snow Hailstone and glorious sunshine, Aston Martin fetched out the 2011 prototype of the DBS facelift.

Aston Martin has decided that the facelifted DBS will come with a new front skirt with more aggressive front splitters. Rumour has it that the front headlights will be the usual HID led array taken from the Rapide model.

The vehicle’s 5.9 liter V12 heart that pumps blood into the driver’s body by offering 517 hp is expected to be tuned with slightly more emission reduction, This is the same engine which is used in the Aston Martin One-77 but with 1.4 litre less CC

Aston Martin is expected to unveil the facelifted DBS at 2011 Geneva Auto Show, with the car hitting the dealer networks immediately after.

Lagonda M45 Lemans Team Car – 2010 Eifel Rennen

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

At the ADAC Eifel Rennen this weekend we spotted one of the Lagonda M45 Lemans Team Car. The Lagonda’s impeccable history included a placing in the 1934 Ards TT in the hands of onetime World Land Speed Record holder John Cobb. The following year it contested in the Le Mans 24 race in the hands of Dr J.D. Benjafield and Sir Roland Gunter a race won outright by its sister car. Another m45 was recently auctioned in the UK for a world price record of £430,000 by H&H auctioneers.

The big and powerful 4 -litre Lagonda M45 is rightly regarded as one of the most desirable post-vintage thoroughbred cars. It was introduced by the Staines-based company in 1933, using the famous 6-cylinder 4,453cc overhead valve engine by Henry Meadows, which itself dates back to 1928. The M45 was well received as an elegant, sporting quality car, and was endowed with considerable performance by the standards of the day. It proved an instant success, and was almost as fast in closed-body form as it was with open coachwork. Upon its introduction it was the largest-engined British sporting car available, and very few competitors could even approach the performance its big 6-cylinder engine offered. The M45 model was based on the 10ft 9ins wheelbase chassis of the preceding 3-litre ZM model, reworked to accept the 4 -litre Meadows engine and its associated Meadows T8 gearbox. The long stroke engine had bore and stroke dimensions of 88.5mm x 120.65mm to displace 4,453cc, producing around 108bhp at a lazy 3,100rpm.

Launched at the 1933 Motor Show, the 4 litre Lagonda M45 was the first model from the Staines sports car company to use the straight six Meadows engine, which gave the new car near 100 mph performance, allied to remarkable stamina, a prototype being driven in the 1500 miles from Dieppe to Brindisi, beating the express train by a massive 14 hours. The M45 offered performance to match the new Bentley 3 litre, at virtually half the cost, and it quickly became the fashionable model to have, notable owners being world land and sea speed record holder Sir Malcolm Campbell, and, on the publication of The Saint in 1935, Leslie Charteris in New York, in celebration of his 25th novel.

A full team of specially prepared short-wheelbase M45s were built and raced in the 1934 RAC Tourist Trophy at Ards in Ulster, finishing 4th, 5th and 8th despite the handicap system favouring smaller cars, amongst only 17 finishers from a field of 40 starters. These TT cars were then re-prepared at Fox and Nicholl, locally in Tolworth, to compete in the 1935 Le Mans 24 hour race. It was Hawkers test pilot, John Hindmarsh, and Luis Fontes, a 21-year old Anglo-Portuguese, who excelled, winning this classic endurance race outright.

Exclusive, just 410 M45s were completed in the 1933-35 period, most of them carrying Lagondas own coachwork. The M45 was regarded very much within its period as a fast and rugged gentlemans sporting car, quickly finding favour amongst the wealthy sporting fraternity.

2011 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster testing #nurburgring #unseen

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The Pistonspy caught a new set of images of the upcoming facelifted 2011 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.  The car, tested probably by the ADAC 24h driver testing many of the racing equipment currently on the V12 Vantage.

There is no news on what is powering the car but it sounded like a v8 compared to the Rapide spotted on the same day and the gear changes didnt seem to be as fluid as the v12 model even though it sounded legendary.

It also seems to have a lower splitter than the previous model and sits lower to the ground.

The facelifted 2011 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is expected to go on sale this year.

Aston Martin Rapide Nurburgring’s ADAC 24 Hour Car (Hidden Blue Livery)

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Today the Pistonspy spotted the Heavily modified Aston Martin Rapide Nurburgring 24 Hour car in its first test’s.

The ADAC 24h race is in May and we suspect that the car will lose its Stealth matt black livery and reveal its hidden Blue colour Scheme.

After Aston has spent many months honing their production cars on the Nurburgring we expect a good show by the British Marque.

Perfect processing and elaborate technology are the hallmarks of this exclusively tuned car which is limited to only 15 pieces. A coilover suspension provides the best road holding and emphasises the striking rims in XXL. The refinement is perfected by an exclusive interior programme.

Haute Couture on wheels Tailor-made processing and perfect surfaces confirm the superb quality of the MANSORY carbon outfit with the eye-catching gold-texture. The CYRUS aerodynamics components are made of extremely light „prepreg autoclav carbon“ and do not only include wing extensions for the front and back, but also side skirt attachments and linings. At the front axle, a newly designed front skirt with enlarged air inlets provides the optimal ventilation for the twelve-cylinder aggregate.

The CYRUS front is visually enhanced with the newly designed carbon bonnet. With its two slotted “power domes” additional fresh air is directed to the front motor. Also at the tail, the refining engineers have invented something extraordinary in order to perfect the visual appearance of the Aston Martin. The newly designed rear skirt with the integrated diffuser emphasises the superior look and provides space for four stainless steel end pipes of the sonorous sport exhaust system. Design wheels in XXL The optimal road grip is provided by the 9×20 and 10,5×21 inch rims in combination with Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres measuring 255/30ZR20 at the front and 295/25ZR21 at the back.

The design of the ultra-light forged wheel thereby unites sportiness and elegance and perfectly fills out the wheel houses. In addition, an optimally adjusted coilover suspension lowers the centre of gravity of this noble sports car and renders perfect road holding characteristics.

Am 24h e1263939363394 Victory for Aston Martin in Dubai 24h Race aston martin models
UAE based AUH Motorsports stormed to a class victory and 16th overall in the Dubai 24 Hours with its Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Emirati driver Humaid Al Masaood teamed with Eric Charles, Alex Kapadia and Michael Prophet to take victory.

The tightly contested SP3 class for GT4 cars saw Aston Martins filling three of the top four positions. British team Nicholas Mee Racing finished third to claim a place on the podium and DXB Racing completed the gruelling endurance contest just one lap behind in fourth.

A large crowd attended the Dubai Autodrome to witness the start of the fifth Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai, which got underway at 1400 (local time) on 15 January.

In total 74 cars started the race, which was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

There were a number of early minor incidents, one of which involved the winners of last year’s SP3 class, Dubai based DXB Racing’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4. The incident cost the team several places but they fought back to finish fourth in class and 19th overall.

The class victory is a further testament to the performance, durability and reliability of the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, which has become a regular class winner in endurance races around the globe since its inception.
