01 07 2010 spy 0034 M The History of the Lexus LFA From Prototype to Production spyshots news lexus models

This video shows the life story of the critically acclaimed LFA which took its toll with the tragic loss of Chief Test Driver Hiromu Naruse.

Ironically is death was at the hands of the Nurburgring Edition LFA.

Also shown is the short lived lap record 7:14 which was a tribute to the personally witnessed testing strategy at the Nurburgring.

powered by a sophisticated new high-revving 4.8-liter V10 engine that generates 552 hp (412kW/560DIN hp) and 354 lb-ft (480Nm) of torque for adrenaline-fuelled 202 mph (325km/h) performance. This specially-developed powerplant is hooked up to a unique six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) with paddle shifters for ultimate driver control. Linked by a rigid torque tube for excellent drivetrain integrity, the ASG is located in a transaxle layout over the rear axle for an optimal 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Marco Simoncelli – Horrific Accident MotoGp Malaysia 2011

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The Moto-GP race at Malaysia today was cancelled due to a horrific accident, resulting in the death of Marco Simoncelli.

His death comes a week after those of Baja Racer Rick Husemen and fellow Brit Dan Wheldon at Indy 500.

The horrific accident happened on the second lap of the Malaysian GP Circuit where his bike lost control of the Honda and catapulted on to oncoming riders Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.

Condolences go out to the family of Marco Simoncelli and friends and colleagues.

I am not going to show you the video as I feel personally its bad taste to publish the death of anyone including Gaddafi.

Formula 1 Nürburgring Nordschleife 1975 Video

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

I am always on the look out for good historic video clips at the Nürburgring, this was the same year that Niki Lauda would set the lap record of 6:58.6 over the 14 mile track.

The race was a year before Lauda’s infamous crash on the northloop, he had been trying to get the other drivers to boycott the nordschleife due to safety concerns and lack of run off.

He suffered serious burns and amazed the motorsport fraternity by returning back behind the wheel some 6 weeks later.

The 1975 Formula 1 was won by Carlos Reutemann after Nicki Lauda lost pole with a puncture and ended third.

James Hunt Retired from the race to a wheel Hub Failure.

Girls of the 2011 Frankfurt IAA

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

There is nothing more interesting than Girls at the motor show and sometime as a photographer we are alway allured by shiny pretty objects.

So lets just say most of the official unveiling of the cars have always been leaked prior to the press or spied in test around the EU.

So decided to go hunting and take a look round and take some pictures of some very tidy looking examples, including some damn fine coachwork.

Any way Enjoy! Click The Picture for all the Pics.

“GEMBALLA racing” to enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3s in the 2012 motorsport season

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (1)

Frankfurt, 22/08/2011. Setting yet another milestone in the year of its 30th Anniversary, GEMBALLA is proud to announce the debut of GEMBALLA racing. The new team will enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 cars in the 2012 motorsport season.

Team owner and GEMBALLA investor, Steffen Korbach, has hired Sascha Bert to manage his new motorsport venture. A well-known racing driver and instructor, Bert is a former German kart champion, Formula 3 and FIA GT driver, and has stood on the winners’ podium at the Nürburgring VLN 24-hour race amongst others. As Korbach said in Frankfurt today, “Sascha Bert is an absolute pro, and is ideally qualified to manage our new racing team.”

“We chose the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 because we think this car has the potential to be one of the season’s leaders,” Korbach explained. “We have also put together a team of drivers and mechanics who are proven winners. Racing is in our blood! We want to win!”

The GEMBALLA name has been synonymous with high performance, reliability and extraordinary qualities for 30 years. Now, 17 years after the McLaren F1 GTR won the gruelling 24-hours of Le Mans on its debut outing, GEMBALLA racing will capitalise on McLaren’s competition pedigree to mount its own challenge.

Race bred by a marque that has always been a front-runner in Formula 1, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 incorporates world-class technology. Based on the recently launched MP4-12C supercar, the GT3 racecar features a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, bespoke racing gearbox, carbon safety cell, race front splitter, large fixed rear wing, optimised air vents at the front and a racing diffuser at the rear. The steering wheel with integrated display is an ode to Formula 1.

Allan McNish Huge Accident at 2011 Le Mans

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Less than 60 minutes in to the endurance race, the Audi R18 TDI driven by Allan McNish, the R18 came in to fast on slower traffic at the Dunlop curve. Allan was at this point too late to break and made contact with the Ferrari sending Both cars in to the barrier.

Due to the speed of the impact the R18 hit the wall and flung it in to the air spraying the Photographers with a cocktail of carbon fibre and debris, as one Photographer runs away from a rogue wheel.

A tribute to the Monocoque construction from audi led to Allan walking away from the incident.

He either fetched too much speed in to the Dunlop curve or had a breaking failure.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1′s 7:19 Nordschleife Record

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Chevrolet & Jim Mero have taken the 2012 Corvette ZR1 to a GTR beating 7:19, With the help of the Michelins reborn Pilot Sport Cup Tyres which are the road legal type.

This has been born from some impressive track time and prototype testing by Chevrolet in 2010.

From watching this and noticing the brute power over the clinical handling on the Nissan GTR makes me wonder about transmission power loss in the GTR.

Be nice to see an application of the GTR engine in a purely RWD donor to see if it is just all handling.

The ZR1’s High Performance package is said to feature black cup-style aluminum wheels measuring 19-inches up front and 20-inches in the rear, as well as Michelin PS Cup tires and a six-speed manual transmission.

And will cost around £118k that is £12000 pound a second faster than the Nissan GTR.

Silverstone Race Track Days

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

Silverstone was opened as a World War Two airfield in 1943, near the leafy village of the same name. Once the war had ended in 1945 Britain was left with a number of redundant airfields but without a major race track Donington Park was still a military vehicle storage depot, Brooklands had been sold off, Crystal Palace was in a state of disrepair and Brands Hatch was still under-developed.

The Royal Automobile Club was interested in Silverstone as a potential site and approached the Air Ministry in 1948 and a lease was arranged. At this time the centre of Silverstone Circuit was a farm producing cereal crops and also a piggery so the RAC employed farmer James Wilson Brown to create the first Grand Prix circuit at the site and gave him just two months to build it.

Now in 2011 the newly renovated paddock and pits and the addition of the new “Arena” section has made sure that Silverstone remains the home of British Formula 1 and won MotoGP from Donnington.

Also one of the improved offering is the addition of a well operated Track Club track day to offer you the famous Silverstone experience. Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned veteran, have your own car or want to hire a car from the Silverstone Fleet, Silverstone Track Days allows you to test and hone your skills on multiple circuit configurations and enjoy a whole host of other benefits.

Not only do you and your guest (2 passes) get free drinks and food throughout the day, You might even be lucky enough to drive a new car from the many invited manufacturers.

For more information please call Julie Hartfield on 0844 3728 235 or email [email protected]. Find full details here: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/track/track-club/
