Lamborghini’s “Aventadore” v12 Engine revealed
Posted by: | CommentsAfter the numerous sighting we made of the Jota or the rumoured “Aventadore” Murcielago replacement, lamborghini have revealed the powerunit which is being developed along with Bosch and Lamborghini’s technology partners.
The V12 will be capable of a world beating 700hp of naturally aspirated power and the usual 4 wheel drive transmission from the Audi quattro system from Germany, along with Lamborghini ISR gearbox with an impressive 40% improvement in speed of the gear changes over the current Gallardo servo actuated gearbox.
The v12 powerunit depending on application will be capable of an impressive 3hp per kilogram, due to the various weight reduction techniques applied using advanced lighter materials, for example nitride-hardened crankshafts ensures the weight is an impressive 24.6kg and ensures the engine high revving characteristic and minimise bearing wear.
Along with a carbon fiber induction system reflects in the total engine weight of 235kg.
And for the environmental concerns the 60 bar fuel pump will be electronically controlled to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions and consumption on this application.
Thanks go to the guys at Jalopnik for the rumoured name for the Jota prototype we spotted undergoing test at the Nurburgring in Germany Earlier in the year.

Lamborghini Jota Prototype Spied at the Nürburgring
Posted by: | CommentsThe Lamborghini Jota prototype was spotted on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife Today.
The Carbon and Aluminium spaceframe underpins this Italian thouroughbred resulting in a lighter more agile chassis and lower ride height than the current Murcielago.
The power unit is to be a direct injection V-12 approximately outputting 695 horsepower and delivered to the four wheel drive haldex system from Audi.
The car’s detailing including the rear light clusters are similar to the Reventon/Estoque as for the rest of the detailing well have to wait until the Paris motorshow.
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 at the Nurburgring for a polish?
Posted by: | CommentsToday we spotted a shiny Lamborghini LP640 being loaded on to the trailer with the same crew as the recently spotted LP-560-4 facelift.
Could this be the same car which is meant to be at the Goodward Festival Of Speed in July, If so the facelifted car was probably getting some shakedown test’s prior to next months event.
I can see no other reason why a LP640 would be sat Idle waiting for its travel companion without being seen, then again it might be on the track tommorow only time will tell.
2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560-4 spyder spied on Nurburgring
Posted by: | CommentsToday we spotted the much rumoured Gallardo Superleggera Spyder under test at the Nurburgring.
Personally I doubt that this is a Superleggara or a Balboni, this car is just a facelift of the LP-560-4 spyder.
If a car is going to endure the nordschleife it wouldnt be missing its downforce from the “Superleggera’s” rear diffuser and smaller front splitters as any tests would be pointless.
But saying that, this also could be a early development cycle entailing the base product chassis to get the engine and other upgrades later on. (also not likely)
In this guise my bet is on a facelifted LP-560-4 probably unvailed at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Lamborghini Reventon Frankfurt IAA 2009
Posted by: | CommentsLamborghini Reventón Roadster – ultimately open Designer piece with uncompromising performance
Lamborghini presents the ultimate driving machine among open-top two-seaters – the Reventón Roadster is a sports car of breathtaking fascination, menacing power and uncompromising performance. The 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder generates 493 kW (670 PS), catapulting the Roadster from 0 to 100 Km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 330 KM/h (205 mph). The open-top Reventón is not only one of the fastest, but also one of the most exclusive cars in the world – Lamborghini has limited the series.
The Lamborghini Reventón is not destined to remain a one-off. Less than 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it.
Each Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 Million Euro (without taxes). Deliveries will begin October 2009.
“The Reventón is the most extreme car in the history of the brand,” comments Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “The new Roadster adds an extra emotional component to our combined technological expertise – it unites superior performance with the sensual fascination of open-top driving” . The Reventón Coupé was presented at the 2007 IAA in Frankfurt and was sold out immediately.
Open-top sports cars are a tradition at Lamborghini that stretches back over 40 years. In 1968, the company from Sant’Agata Bolognese built a Miura without a fixed roof as a one-off. The Diablo Roadster appeared in 1995 with its targa roof anchored to the engine cover.
