2011 Jaguar XKR
Posted by: | CommentsJaguar showsoff the latest dramatic evolution of its supercharged Jaguar XKR coupe at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The stunning new Jaguar XKR Special Edition delivers a significantly raised maximum speed – 174mph (280km/h) – and stunning exterior styling changes that create the fire and brimstone supercharged Jaguar.
The Jaguar XKR Special Edition combines a number of new features and option packs that are introduced to the XK range at 2011 Model Year. Jaguar customers have the option to personalise their vehicle by building on the existing Jaguar XKR package to deliver a car that offers even greater performance without sacrificing the refinement and luxury for which every Jaguar is renowned.
Introduced in 2009, the Jaguar XKR boasts a state-of-the-art 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III R engine that delivers 510PS (510bhp SAE), 625Nm of torque and propels the coupe to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. Now, in Special Edition guise, the Jaguar XKR’s top speed climbs significantly from an electronically limited 155mph (250km/h) to 174mph (280km/h) thanks to the addition of the Speed Pack. Allied to that remarkable engine is an advanced six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddles, lightweight aluminium body structure and a range of computer-controlled systems including Active Differential Control and Adaptive Dynamics that ensure the supercharged car accelerates even faster, handles even more precisely and sets new standards of ride and comfort.
Bertone Alfa Concept #Geneva
Posted by: | CommentsAfter a two year absence from the international scene, Bertone returns to the Geneva Motor Show, unveiling a concept car that makes its world premiere here: the Pandion, an aggressive yet beautiful coupé designed as a tribute to Alfa Romeos’ one hundred year anniversary.
The Pandion: an extreme and controversial sports car in typical Bertone fashion. The size of the concept car (4620 mm in length, 1971 mm wide, 1230 mm high, 2850 mm wheelbase) offers a compact sports car external dimensions with a large sports car interior feeling, all powered by a 4.7 litre, 450 CV 8-cylinder Alfa Romeo engine.
The Pandion is the first car produced by Mike Robinson in his new role as Design and Brand Director at Bertone. A pure ‘dream car’, the Pandion takes its rightful place as a member of Bertone’s historic Alfa Romeo family: cars that have always been style icons, influencing the history of the automobile and Italian craftsmanship in their excellent design quality, proving themselves to be undisputed benchmarks for the entire world of car design.
The name comes from the animal world, as Pandion Haliaetus is the scientific name for an Osprey: a sea hawk that nests and lives in coastal areas. The designers, led by Mike Robinson, have drawn inspiration from the wings of this predator to invent the spectacular door opening mechanisms, and from the hawks’ facial markings to project the traditional Alfa family feeling into the next era of design.
In almost a century of Bertone tradition, it is not the first time that natural wonders have inspired the names of concept cars. Just think of the Corvair Testudo (1963) and, by no coincidence, the Alfa Romeo Canguro (1964), Carabo (1968) and Delfino (1983).
Cadillac unveiled the 2011 CTS Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show
Posted by: | CommentsGeneva 2010– Cadillac unveiled the 2011 CTS Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show, the latest and most dramatic of the brand’s series of new designs to reach production.
Slated to arrive in North American Cadillac showrooms in the spring of 2010, the CTS Coupe is a new luxury sports coupe designed to become the centerpiece of the brand’s revised lineup. It will be launched in Europe in fall 2010.
“CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities,” said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. “It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts.”
The Coupe joins the CTS Sport Sedan, the 564 horsepower (415 kW) CTS-V and new CTS Sport Wagon as the foundation of Cadillac’s lineup. A high-performance V-Series edition of the Coupe will also be released in 2010. The CTS Coupe’s design carries over virtually unchanged from the concept car that was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 2008.
The Coupe is a classic 2+2 layout bolstered with advanced technology, such as a rear-view camera system and a performance-oriented suspension system coupled to rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Ferrari 599 hybrid revealed at #Geneva
Posted by: | CommentsFerrari at he 80th Geneva motor show revealed its new hybrid/KERS technology, which it claims will not only make its cars more efficient, but will also markedly improve performance and handling and be standard on everycar in 3 years.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said: “You don’t often see a green Ferrari on our Geneva stand, but this year there’s a new agenda for us.”
The addition of an electric motor into the drivetrain will also be accompanied by other efficiency measures including engine downsizing and advanced aerodynamic concepts.
Ferrari’s hybrid design is particularly clever because it is notably compact and can be integrated relatively simply into both the company’s front and mid-engined layouts.
The electric motor develops 100bhp and 110lb ft of torque and is backed up by an 80kW battery made up of very slim (20mm thick) cells mounted under the 599’s floor to maintain handling requirements.
Other changes include the electronics control module (mounted in the boot, with cooling pumps) and a small electric motor/generator mounted on the front of the engine. This drives the ancillaries (including the air-con and power steering) when the car is running purely on battery power.
At the moment, however, the system’s electric-only range is estimated to be just three miles. The set-up also includes a stop-start facility, which sees the hybrid motor used to restart the engine.
Ferrari estimates that, even with the extra 100kg of weight resulting from the hybrid installation, drivers will see improved in-gear acceleration, including shaving the 0-124mph sprint time back to just 10.4sec from 11.0sec. The 599’s centre of gravity has not risen; it remains just 489mm off the ground.
The millisecond response time of the motor will also be used for ‘Electronic Torque Shaping’. This introduces torque ‘blips’ from the hybrid electric motor to smooth the petrol engine’s torque delivery, giving the driver a more linear throttle response. Ferrari claims that using the ETC and ETS together will greatly improve acceleration out of corners.
Fornasari Tender – Geneva Motorshow
Posted by: | CommentsAfter walking round the Exhibits seeking an alternative to the many Hybrids and usual facelifts models on show, then I came across the Fornasari “Tender”.
This will be a must buy for the Luxury Yacht market, My only concern is the Sundeck doesnt look big enough to host a Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee Jones Video.
Yachting style for this model designed for leisure and seascapes. Precious wood finishing and naval details demonstrate once again the possibility of creating a unique vehicle.
Customization is a must. No colour range is taken for reference. Both interior and exterior views are determined according to the clients’ taste.
The most exclusive and even the most eccentric materials find their right place. Also, no limits are given for the engine: either 450 or 600 horse power, with 6-speed or automatic gearbox, suspensions ready to win the Dakar or the Grand Prix.
Anything may be required and everything can be satisfied: Formula breaks, hand-hammered body in carbon or aluminium, and even 18″ rims or the 23″ dizzy ‘rings’, which can be combined with tires for either desert sands or high-speed circuits.
Even the armour plating becomes peculiar on the RR600. With such a set of size, weight and mechanical features, this protection grants for the best safety solution with no diminishment in the performance level.

Geneva 2010 : apollo sport 2010
Posted by: | CommentsGUMPERT Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH is celebrating 4 world premieres at the 80th International Motor Show in Geneva.
The GUMPERT power package was on show for the first time at the 80th Geneva Motor Show: two impressive versions of the further developed apollo sport, in flattering black and white.
The Power unit has been Optimised using new recirculation valves and improved cooling of the forced induction system improved the performance of the German Altenburg-built racing car to 750 hp/551 kW (previously 700 hp/515 kW).
This increase in performance of more than seven percent can be felt above all on curved and fast stretches of road. The power per litre therefore increases to more than 180 hp per litre of cylinder capacity which should shatter its Previous Nurburgring Record set in 2009.
The LED daytime running lights ensure clear conditions in temporary traffic.
In the course of reducing the vehicle’s drag coefficient, the front and tail now have a significantly more striking and forceful design, making the apollo seem more aggressive.
A completely re-designed flap-controlled exhaust system with two times two tail pipes produces an unmistakeable earthy sound.
In addition flaps in the tail area ensure optimised down force, something that has always been a priority of the apollo. The integration of a brand-new reinforced CIMA gearbox (apollo S1000) into the apollo sport now gives it improved reliability in long-distance races.
Further innovations in 2010: a considerably improved CD/DVD player sound system and a central flashlight for motor racing on the redesigned tail.
TopGear reported this car as Ugly in the flesh its an awe inspiring recreational weapon.

Carbonfied Bugatti Veyron’s at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show
Posted by: | CommentsOne year on from the launch of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. exhibited two customised Grand Sport models at the Geneva International Motor Show 2010.
A special exhibit on the Bugatti stand will also give visitors to the show a glimpse at the technology that lies beneath the bodywork of the Grand Sport.
Throughout his life, Ettore Bugatti constantly experimented with different colour schemes and materials as he sought to create his unique cars. Today, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. continues this tradition, and is constantly expanding the range of options it offers on the basis of suggestions received from customers. In discussion with the design and engineering team, buyers of Bugatti cars can tailor their vehicles to their personal preferences by choosing from a wide array of exquisite materials and paint finishes.
The two models on display in Geneva showcase the evergrowing range of options available to new Veyron and Grand Sport owners.
Two-tone colour scheme with Royal Dark Blue carbon fibre and Arctic White On the first of the two Grand Sport models exhibited in Geneva, the bonnet, monocoque and rear section are made of carbon fibre tinted in a Royal Dark Blue colour that shows off the lustre of the fibre.
Air intakes and all grilles (except the highly polished radiator grille) are likewise finished in Royal Dark Blue, creating a striking contrast between the central part of the car and the Arctic White side panels. The inner sides of the horseshoe-shaped spokes in the wheel rims are also painted Royal Dark Blue. The EB logos on the wheels, and fuel and oil filler cap are still made of polished aluminium as usual.
