Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe Spied Winter Testing

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (1)

Here are the latest spyshots of the upcoming 911 Turbo Coupe in very light camouflage and just hides some of the detailing on the front bumper.

Looking closely at the spyshots in the images above, we can clearly see the trademark induction inlets supplying the artic cool air to the 6 cylinder twin turbo boxer engine, as well as its wider rear end and oversized spoiler will aid the AWD system in downforce and grip.

The rear bumper on this new 911 Turbo also features additional cooling vents and a set of integrated exhaust pipes which are likely to be changed.

From The current 997 generation, the 911 Turbo is 4.5 cm wider stance than the regular Carrera.

The engine is likely to be around the 565 hp to compete with the Nissan GTR and is likely to release an interesting nurburgring lap time video close to release in late 2012.

The car is also likely to have an optional upgrade to the ‘PDK-S’ dual clutch transmission sporting an additional gear to keep shorter gear ratio to aid acceleration and mid range torque.

We expect a production prototype to be shown at Geneva in a couple of months….

Porsche Cajun Mule Spied Winter Testing

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The Porsche Cajun mule has been spotted in northern Sweden undergoing winter testing.

We were expecting to see at least a production prototype around now, so we find it strange that the mule is still cross dressed in the Audi Q5 form.

This car is expected to be in direct competition to the current Range Rover Evoque and priced around £35,000 for the base model.

The chassis is based on the mules Q5 but will be an heavily modified affair, with a wider track and some Porsche fettled power units from Audi.

Rumour has it that there will be two engine options at launch including a 180bhp Diesel along with a 235bhp 2.0 litter.

Later on in 2012 we expect to see the S variant which will be powered by a 3.0 litre V6 with around 300Bhp but expect this figure to change depending on the rumoured sporty Evoque.

An Hybrid model will follow in 2013, We expect to see a concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor show.

2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is ready to race

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

IMG0289 M 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is ready to race porsche

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is ready to race. The top model of Porsche Motorsport’s customer racing vehicles will head into the 2012 season with extensive modifications. Particularly striking at first glance are the changes to the body: the width of the new GT3 RSR has grown by 48 millimetres. Built to conform to the A.C.O. “LM” GTE regulations, the 911 represents the crowning pinnacle of a range of successful customer sport race cars that are based on the 997 type 911 GT3 RS street sports car.

Powering the new 911 GT3 RSR is a particularly efficient six-cylinder boxer engine with a four-litre capacity. With a mandatory air-restrictor, it generates 460 hp (338 kW) and drives the 310 millimetre wide rear wheels. The diameter of the front wheels has increased by 30 mm to now measure 680 millimetres. The Porsche sequential six-speed gearbox is operated via paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

The nose and rear panels are adapted to the flared front and rear wheel arches, as are the door sill and the wheel arch coverings. The aerodynamic concept is complemented by a new ducting of the intake air. Openings in the rear side sections, as known from the turbo variants of the Porsche 911, replace the air scoop on the engine hood, which is very similar to the 911 GT2 RS street sports car.

The new 911 GT3 RSR can be raced at the Nurburgring 24 Hours, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Le Mans Series, the American Le Mans Series as well as the International GT Open and in other series and races.

“GEMBALLA racing” to enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3s in the 2012 motorsport season

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (1)

Frankfurt, 22/08/2011. Setting yet another milestone in the year of its 30th Anniversary, GEMBALLA is proud to announce the debut of GEMBALLA racing. The new team will enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 cars in the 2012 motorsport season.

Team owner and GEMBALLA investor, Steffen Korbach, has hired Sascha Bert to manage his new motorsport venture. A well-known racing driver and instructor, Bert is a former German kart champion, Formula 3 and FIA GT driver, and has stood on the winners’ podium at the Nürburgring VLN 24-hour race amongst others. As Korbach said in Frankfurt today, “Sascha Bert is an absolute pro, and is ideally qualified to manage our new racing team.”

“We chose the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 because we think this car has the potential to be one of the season’s leaders,” Korbach explained. “We have also put together a team of drivers and mechanics who are proven winners. Racing is in our blood! We want to win!”

The GEMBALLA name has been synonymous with high performance, reliability and extraordinary qualities for 30 years. Now, 17 years after the McLaren F1 GTR won the gruelling 24-hours of Le Mans on its debut outing, GEMBALLA racing will capitalise on McLaren’s competition pedigree to mount its own challenge.

Race bred by a marque that has always been a front-runner in Formula 1, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 incorporates world-class technology. Based on the recently launched MP4-12C supercar, the GT3 racecar features a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, bespoke racing gearbox, carbon safety cell, race front splitter, large fixed rear wing, optimised air vents at the front and a racing diffuser at the rear. The steering wheel with integrated display is an ode to Formula 1.

2012 911 Porsche – Spyshots

Porsche’s next 911, known internally as the 991 has been spied in predelivery specification in southern Germany.

The 991 will be a totally reworked version of the current 996/997 platform, with the longer wheel base we expect a bit more lateral grip than previous 911′s.

The powerunit will be the naturally aspirated flat six, likely in two displacements, as is currently 997.

We don’t expect any increase in power but expect it to be lighter by about 35kg than the current model from increased use of aluminimum body panels.

We expect there will be a coupe and a convertible body as well along with future GT2 and GT3 models.

Expect more to be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA in September.

2013 Porsche Cayman Spotted at The Nurburgring

Posted by: Tony Dewhurst | Comments (0)

The 2013 Porsche Cayman has been spied on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Even though the prototype is camouflaged, we can clearly see that the car will adopt similar light clusters as the 911 prototypes along with a slightly less man like air intake.

Also we can make out some daylight running lights underneath the thickly clad camo tape.

We expect the Cayman S power output to be around the 320hp with an improved 3.4 liter and the standard Cayman to be around 265hp powered by the usual 2.9 liter.

We are expecting the new line of Porsches to be released in the second quarter of 2012.
