Spa-Francorchamps Hot Taxi Lap: RSR Lotus 2-11
Posted by: | CommentsHere is a fantastic video from RSR who run a track car rental and taxi rides on both the Nordschleife and SPA in Belgium.
Watch has Ron Simons masterly takes a paying passenger around the Belgium Grand Prix circuit in an impressive 2:47.
This is incredible considering it was carrying a passenger and to get this in some sort of context a 480hp LMS GT2 Porsche 997 GT3 RSR Laps at around 2:22.
Powered with a supercharged 1.8 with 250bhp propels this car to 0-62 in around 3.8 seconds. (If its standard??)

Mercedes SLS Black Series – Winter Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the latest photos showing the Mercedes AMG SLS Black Series during cold weather testing in the artic circle.
The car is a direct replacement for the SL65 AMG Black Series from 2008 and we expect it to be as insanely dangerous in this form.
It will be badged as the SLS AMG Black Series and is expected to output around 690 ponies, This is where information is vague as engineering the current 6.2-liter V-8 up is one possibility but unlikely, The other is introducing the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8. From the large air intakes on the front of this prototype it could be feeding the Twin intercoolers required for the forced induction.
Also the detailing is showing a wider track along with the usual Black Series aggressive arches along with clever use of composites to reduce weight, we also expect numerous chassis and brake modifications to mate to the increase in power and torque.
This car is still in Prototype mule form from the current SLS and is likely to have another 2-3 months to go before the production prototype will be spotted probably at the Nurburgring in early may.
Vauxhall Opel Astra Convertable – Winter Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the latest spyshots of the Vauxhall & Opel Astra Convertable out in its first outing winter testing in northern sweden.
The spyshots show us that the final configuration is likely to be a soft top variant unlike the current retractable hardtop used on the Astra TwinTop.
Powering this car is likely to be a choice of 2 powerunits one being the 1.6i 16v Turbo, Manual 6-speed and the second likely to be the diesel 2.0CDTi 16v.
2014 Maserati Quattroporte – Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the latest spy shots of a prototype of the Maserati Quattroporte.
This is a pre-production prototype of a complete new chassis hence the four-door is covered in enough camouflage to hide any detailing and any suggestion of new body work features.
Rumour has it that they are also going down the Ferrari route and is touted to house a similar AWD setup as the Ferrari FF as well as the usual RWD.
This is very early stages to talk powerunits for this car but we expect it to carry on with a reworked version of the current V8 powerunit with additional power along a lighter nimbler chassis.
And I will throw caution to the wind and could there be a v12 offering in the works????
Porsche Boxster S 7:58 Nurburgring Laptime.
Posted by: | Comments
The 2012 new generation of Porsche Boxster was unveiled last week at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon.
The Boxster S model lapped the Nurburgring race track in an impressive 7:58 – Which is 18seconds slower than its big brother the all new 911 which lapped in 7:40.
This means that it lapped the nurburgring faster than the C63 AMG Coupe (8:01) and the Corvette C6 (7:59) all of which are powerfull big v8′s.
Powering the new Boxster S is a 3.4 liter flat-six engine that delivers 315 HP to the rear. It completes the 0 to 60 mph dash in just 4.8 seconds and will soar on to a top speed of 173 mph.
We do need to see the video to confirm the laptime.
Lamborghini Aventador “Wipeout” Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are a set off pictures we don’t come across often it shows the current model Lamborghini Aventador testing in the extreme cold climates of Northern Sweden.
After our previous photographs of the Aventador Roadster we thought we had an opportunity in better light to snap the car.
As the car approached the intersection, at a speed that appeared faster than the posted speed limit, the driver lost control, skidded through the intersection and crashed into a large snow bank.
Then the red faced Italian test driver took offence from this rather legendary photo opportunity and approached in an aggressive manner apart from a comedy slippery advance.
The time he got to us he realised that this wasn’t the streets of Corleone and basically retreated back to the vehicle after a few mutterings.
By the time an Audi A6 allroad, equipped with a winch, came to pull the raging bull out of the snow, things had calmed down.
The driver scooped the snow out of the car, gave us a large smile and a big thumbs up, and got back to work! Not exactly the finger we were expecting to see.
Fortunately, the driver, and the car, came away from the mishap totally unharmed.
Lamborghini Aventador Roadster – First Spyshots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the very first photos of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster spied in northern Sweden under some very difficult lighting conditions.
This car has the same spec engine wise as the current Aventador, V12, 700 horsepower, 690 Nm, 2.9 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed at 350 km/h.
On the photos we can clearly see the camouflage that is trying to hide the fact that the roof can be lifted off, and it looks like the roof could be made of carbon fiber instead of the soft top fabric found on the Murcielago Roadster.
Not much more specs can be discussed as this is very early days.
2013 Volkswagon Golf Mk VII – Spy Shots
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the latest spyshots of the final production prototype of the MK7 Golf. The cars is still under heavy camouflage so most of the detail and styling cues are still under wraps.
However what is interesting in this new model is the brand new MQB chassis that will be shared with the Audi A3 Etc. It will have a longer wheelbase and will also have more aerodynamic features.
The range-topping Golf models will use a new 2.0-liter TFSI Petrol engine with more producing around 240 hp on the GTI and around 310 hp in the Golf R which will be equipped with VW’s 4Motion 4 wheel drive system.
VW accidently gave us our first look at a very early clay prototype of the Mk7 Golf featuring a agressive snout and more steeply raked windscreen through an official video back in 2009.
